I possess a solid understanding of modern web technologies and UX design. Throughout my university degree and professional experience, I have demonstrated, efficient learning of skills and technologies as well as a methodical approach to tackling new problems.

I'm currently working on a peer-to-peer video chat built with the WebRTC API. As of now, the application has the following functionality:

1st User can initiate a call which, in turn, generates a unique chat room id

2nd User can answer the call by inputting the chat room Id

Both have the ability to end the call at any given moment

A challenging aspect of this project was organising the business logic and state of the application as it has two users that are interacting with each other in real-time.

From a high-level perspective the application does the following to facilitate a peer connection:

On call initiation, the user’s camera feed is added to the peer connection and an empty media stream is added for the remote user. Additionally, event listeners are added to handle the incoming remote stream and update the connection state. (Mirrored for both users). 

The user that initiates the call creates a peer connection offer that is then stored in the database.

The user who answers the call writes their answer to the offer document in firebase. 

Firebase snapshot events trade potential IP addresses between the two users. When received on each side they will be added as 

Once a set of ICE candidates is mutually agreed upon a connection will be established and the event set up with the call initiation will trigger and both users will receive their peer’s media stream.

Pantree is a web app focused on helping reduce food waste. Our goal is to establish a strong link between community fridges and local food businesses – pantree does this by allowing potential donations to be listed for collection. Community fridge operators can claim any food donations which would otherwise go to waste. Our platform also allows local businesses to donate any surplus food to community fridges. With pantree, we aim to raise awareness of community fridges, bring communities together, and minimise food waste.

Throughout the duration of the project, my work revolved around user experience design and front-end development. I was responsible for creating the user flows for features based on data aggregated from user surveys. Furthermore, I was also responsible for developing the majority of the front-end for the application based on the final high-fidelity mock-ups. The front end was developed using 

. Aditionally, I also worked on some back-end features using Node.js and Express.
